Zelman Symphony Orchestra

We were privileged to work with the Zelman Symphony Orchestra managing the PR for their performance of Shostakovich’s 13th Symphony, the Babi Yar at Melbourne’s premier concert venue, Hamer Hall in 2017. The concert commemorated the Babi Yar atrocities of WWII. Following stories in print and online media nationally and an ABC Radio National feature, tickets sold out.

Tribute and Tribute to the Children Exhibitions

We conducted the PR campaigns for both of these portrait exhibitions by Melbourne artist, Jeffrey Kelson. The first was an homage to 20 Jewish Holocaust survivors living in Melbourne and it was the first time a series like that had been painted in Australia. The second focused on child survivors of the Holocaust. Our campaign for both exhibitions achieved national TV, press and radio coverage.

Blood Makes Noise

Blood Makes Noise broke the sound barrier with a love story told with circus and sign language and featured deaf performer, Asphyxia. The challenge was to pitch the story to mainstream media that follows mostly large productions. PR Matters generated substantial coverage in metro press arts pages, as well as a radio interview for Asphyxia on ABC Radio in Melbourne. This was conducted with an interpreter in studio and generated very positive listener feedback.

Schindler’s Ring

Long thought lost, the model that was used at the end of WWII by a group of Oskar Schindler’s Jewish workers to make a gold ring for him was found in a Melbourne home where it had lain for more than 50 years. Our campaign for the exhibition of this important artefact generated TV, radio and press coverage.

John Van Wisse

PR Matters managed the media campaign for marathon swimmer and elite athlete, John Van Wisse when he smashed the world record for the gruelling Arch to Arc Enduroman triathlon recently. The A2A begins in London and ends in Paris. John Van Wisse shaved an extraordinary 12 hours and 12 minutes off the previous record, resulting in saturation coverage in Australia and wide coverage internationally. We co-ordinated media interviews from the training stage through to the triumphant finish and post-event.
